Storage Capacity of Opportunistic Information Dissemination Systems

Floating Content (FC) is a paradigm for localized infrastructure-less content dissemination, that aims at sharing information among nodes within restricted geographical area by relying only on opportunistic exchanges. FC provides the basis probabilistic spatial storage of shared in completely decentralized fashion, usually without support from dedicated infrastructure. One key open issues characterization its performance limits as functions system parameters, accounting reliance volatile wireless exchanges and limited user resources. This paper takes first step towards tackling this issue, elaborating model capacity FC, i.e., maximum amount can be stored through paradigm. The similar dissemination systems, evaluated with powerful theoretical approach, based mean field exchange. In addition, an extremely simple explicit approximate expression derived. numerical results generated our analytical models are compared to predictions realistic simulations under different setups, proving accuracy approaches, characterizing properties capacity.
